Stamping with the Stars #DOswts385 Mom or Dad Inspiration Hop

Hey everyone!  And, welcome to another DO Stamping with the Stars Inspiration Hop!  Today we are inspired by Moms and Dads.  This could include Mother's Day and Father's Day cards.  But, my mother's birthday is on May 5th, just 3 days BEFORE Mother's Day.  This year she will be 94 years old.  Before I show you my mother's Mother's Day/Birthday cards, here is a recent picture of her. 

 

Doesn't she look GREAT!  This was taken a few weeks ago when my sister came to Savannah for a visit from Tennesse and all 5 siblings met with her for lunch!  Good Times!  On to the cards!

I decided to make for this blog hop matching Birthday and Mother's Day cards.

Both of these layouts were inspired from Mary Fish from Stampin' Pretty.  What I liked BEST about these card is the fact that the Designers Series Paper (DSP) is the star of these cards.  Stampin' Up! has the most wonderful DSP and all the colors coordinate so beautifully with the cardstock. This DSP is from the Jan.- Jun. Mini Catalog called Flowering Fields. The tulips on this paper just make me happy.

Measurements for this card

Basic White card base:  5-1/2” x 8-1/2”, scored at 4-1/4”

Basic White cardstock panel 3-3/4” x 5”

Basic White cardstock panel 2-1/2” x 4-1/4”

Scrap strip for sentiment at least 2-3/4” x 1/2” 

HIghland Heather cardstock 4” x 5-1/4”

Flowering Fields DSP 3-3/4” x 2-3/4” (simpler pattern)

Flowering Fields DSP 2-1/4” x 4” (busier pattern)

The sentiment is from the Art Gallery Photopolymer Stamp Set, stamped with Highland Heather Stampin' pad and then die cut from the Floral Gallery Dies.

Measurements for this card

Basic White card base:  5-1/2” x 8-1/2”, scored at 4-1/4” THEN CUT OFF 2-1/2" of front right side.  This will be used for the horizontal panel.

Basic White cardstock inside panel 3-3/4” x 5”

Scrap of Basic White cardstock for sentiment 

HIghland Heather cardstock 4” x 5-1/4”

Flowering Fields DSP  4” x 2-3/4” (simpler pattern)

Flowering Fields DSP 2-1/4” x 4” (busier pattern)

The sentiment is from Dafodil Daydreams Cling Stamp Set, using Highland Heather Stampin' pad and cut out using paper snips.

Stamping with the Stars #DOswts383 Sketch Inspiration

Did you ever made origami paper cranes in school or read the book Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes, by Eleanor Coerr? This stamp set reminds me of making the cranes after reading that very moving book. The stamp set is call Crane of Fortune.  Both the stamp set and this gorgeous Designer Series Paper (DSP), called Symbols of Fortune, is from the Jan.- Jun. Mini Catalog. The Soft Succulent cardstock along with the Bright White mat just makes me feel so happy.  Do colors ever do that to you? These pictures just do not do justice to these beautiful colors together. 

This was a super easy card to make, although it might look difficult.  There are three 1" squares of the DSP and one 4" x 1" strip of DSP that have been matted with Soft Succulent cardstock.  (See the measurements below.) The sentiment was stamped with Evening Evergreen ink, while the crane and dragonflies were stamped using the Soft Succulent ink.  The crane is a Distinktive stamp which creates different opacities in just a single stamped image and show so much detail.

The inside has been matted with Bright White cardstock and a 4" x 1" strip of the DSP.  I think it is so important to finish the inside of cards that are made with colored cardstock.  It is also easier to write on the Bright White cardstock, at least for me.  The Polished Dots were colored with the dark Soft Succulent Blends Marker.  I just love being able to change the colors to add that extra bling touch.

Soft Succulent Cardstock mats 1-1/8" x 4-1/8" (cut one)     1-1/8" squares (Cut 3)

Bidding Farewell to the 2020-2022 In Colors

It's that time of the year when we have to say so long to some of Stampin' Up! beautiful products that we have come to love.  In Colors stay around for two years and are replaced by a new set of gorgeous Stampin' Up! In Color products.  Demonstrators become very attached to In Colors, but we know that when this time of the year rolls around, we also know the new In Colors are just around the corner. (Stay tune to see what the New In Colors will be.)
